Prof. Wegman will tell the history of the Dutch Sustainable Safety (the Dutch version of the Safe System approach), delving into the main challenges faced, as well as its success factors. He will discuss how it has been evolving over time to accommodate new societal and technological trends as well as the increasing trend of cycling fatalities in the Netherlands. Towards the end of his talk, he will open the discussion for exchanging thoughts on the African perspective on Safe System design and its implementation.
